I think it is interesting that New Zealand uses the metric system when Britain doesn't. I talked about fishing in a classroom in London and converted everything to meters but the students didn't understand. I was later reminded that the US uses England's measuring system. I am glad you are learning metric because it makes so much sense.
It's fun to experience differences in our ways of life--makes things interesting.
